This is how the Wizard of Oz wants everyone to be viewed. This is the self image that the people of Oz have of him, large, powerful, intimidating. He is viewed as more than just human, like a god of Oz that is to be worshipped.
This is the human image of the Wizard of Oz. A more realistic approachable being but without the power he wants to portray to the people of Oz. He is no longer “Oz the Great and Powerful” in this depiction. He has been stripped of most of his bells and whistles and the insecure man beneath is revealed.
To deconstruct who the Wizard of Oz truly is it is necessary to remove him from his environment and look at the man not the extravagant things he surrounds himself with.
